Knives That Earn Their Place

The Gyuto glides through protein like it was made for the task — because it was. The Nashiji finish means nothing sticks. I have knives that cost twice as much and perform half as well.

It arrived in a wooden presentation box. That alone tells you everything about how Kazoku thinks about their craft. The knife itself is exceptional — balanced, sharp, and already a piece to be treasured.

The Santoku was my entry into Kazoku. After six months I added the DH Petty. The difference in steel quality is immediately apparent in the hand and on the board. Dennis was involved in every detail — you feel it.

Everything You Need
to Know

This collection brings together Japanese craftsmanship, Dutch expertise, and Dennis's hands-on professional experience. Each knife is designed, tested, and refined through real culinary use for exceptional long-lasting performance.

The Gyuto (21 cm) is your all-purpose blade — fast, versatile, suited to protein and vegetables alike. The Santoku excels at precision slicing and vegetable work with its flatter edge profile. Both are essential. Most serious cooks consider owning one of each non-negotiable.

Yes — the full Kazoku range including the DH Edition is available online with delivery across the Netherlands and Europe. The DH Edition ships in a numbered wooden presentation box with certificate of authenticity.

Hand wash only — never the dishwasher. Dry immediately after each use. Hone on a ceramic rod before cooking and sharpen on a whetstone (1000/3000 grit) every few months. Store on a magnetic strip or in a knife roll. Every DH Edition purchase includes a printed care guide written by Dennis himself.

Absolutely — and the DH Edition was designed specifically with the professional kitchen in mind. Dennis tested every prototype during active dinner service before approving the final specification. The result is a knife that performs under real professional pressure, not just in a home setting.

Japanese knives are typically thinner, harder, and ground to a sharper angle — usually 15° per side versus 20–25° for Western knives. This gives them exceptional precision for slicing, but they require more care. Kazoku knives use Ginsan steel, which bridges the gap: Japanese sharpness with the resilience that professional use demands.

All Kazoku knives carry a 5-year warranty against manufacturing defects. The DH Edition additionally includes a signed certificate and a complimentary first-sharpening service within the first year of ownership. Warranty does not cover damage from dishwashing, incorrect sharpening, or misuse on hard surfaces.
